The Lovers’ Horizon: A Promise of Return

The Echo of Distant Hearts

The dawn is grey without thy tender touch,
And heavy hours drag on in silent woe;
Yet when the evening spreads its velvet clutch,
I find a solace only lovers know.

I gaze upon the moon with heavy eyes,
That silver orb which thou dost also see;
It serves as meeting ground within the skies,
Wherein my spirit wanders close to thee.

Upon the glowing glass, thy words appear,
A modern beacon in the dark of night;
They banish every shadow, every fear,
And fill my empty chamber with thy light.

I dream of engines roaring ‘cross the deep,
To shatter miles that keep us far apart;
To wake us from this long and lonely sleep,
And press thee finally against my heart.

This absence is a trial, not the end,
Have patience, love, for soon the day shall bloom,
When distance shall no more our spirits bend,
And love alone shall occupy the room.
