The Tempest of Forbidden Souls

A chasm deep of iron parts our ways,
The world condemns the vows we dare to speak;
Upon the altar of these cruel days,
We find the strength that reason leaves so weak.

What matters laws when souls are set a-fire?
Your name consumes my lips like sacred wine.
I curse the stars that granted this desire,
Only to starve a love so fierce, so fine.

They speak of rank, of virtue, and of peace,
But hear they not the storm within the breast?
This tragic love shall grant us no release,
Save for the torture of a heart distrest.

Since in their sun we cannot find a place,
Let’s love amidst the lightning and the gale.
To die for love embraces no disgrace,
When passion triumphs where the prudent fail.

Echoing the sentiments of the great Romantic poets, this piece explores the sublime agony of thwarted passion. It suggests that while society may control the physical realm, the spiritual union of two lovers remains untouched, thriving amidst the storm of opposition.
