The Unveiling: A Confession from the Shadows

I watch thee walk in light, whilst I in shade,
Hold back the breath that yearns to speak thy name.
Of mine own trembling hand I am afraid,
Lest I should scorch thy spirit with my flame.

This mask of stone I wear upon my face,
Does hide a tumult raging deep within;
A sacred fire time cannot erase,
A love that feels like virtue, and like sin.

How many words have died upon my tongue?
Swallowed by silence and the fear of loss.
But now the knell of solitude has rung,
And I must bridge the chasm, cross the foss.

So let the visor fall, the shield depart,
Behold the truth I can no longer feign:
Thou art the sovereign of this captive heart,
My cure for sorrow and my cause for pain.

Silence acts as a chrysalis for affection; it protects, but eventually, the feelings must emerge to take flight. May these verses serve as the wings upon which your long-hidden truth finally reaches its destination, turning a secret love into a shared destiny.
