The Offering of Regret: A Plea for Peace

The silence hangs like frost upon the room,
My hasty words have died within the shade;
I let a senseless rage invite the gloom,
And watched the sunlight of our spirit fade.

Forgive the arrows drawn in foolish pride,
That pierced the gentle quiet of your soul;
With bended knee, I cast my shield aside,
To make this broken, weary vessel whole.

Let not this wall of ice between us stand,
Where lonely hearts may knock but find no door;
I only seek the comfort of your hand,
To guide me back to where we were before.

Accept this verse, a plea from sorrow’s deep,
An olive branch upon the stormy sea;
Let love awake from this unhappy sleep,
And bring you back, my dearest heart, to me.

To apologize is to acknowledge the fragility of human connection. This poem seeks not just to erase a mistake, but to honor the bond that remains beneath the conflict. It is a tender invitation to leave the shadows of the argument and step back, together, into the light.
