The sun descends beyond the western steep,
And shadows stretch across the miles between.
I cast my gaze into the azure deep,
Where one pale star alone is dimly seen.
That silver orb that guards thy slumbering,
Is witness to the tears I cannot hide.
Hark to the breeze, upon its gentle wing,
My whispered love travels the ocean wide.
The hours are waves I navigate alone,
Each grain of sand falls heavy in the glass.
Though absence claims the heart as if its own,
This trial of our faith shall surely pass.
Await me, love, for time shall be our guide,
Until the moment of our sweet embrace.
Soon morning breaks, the darkness to divide,
And I shall gaze once more upon thy face.
