The Echo of Distant Hearts: A Poem of Longing

The velvet night descends on silent wings,
And in the void, I reach to find your hand.
Each ticking hour a heavy sorrow brings,
While I remain a ghost within this land.

Upon the glowing glass I soundless trace,
The phantom features that I hold so dear.
Though miles divide and hide your lovely face,
My spirit whispers that you hover near.

The same pale moon that watches over me,
Now casts its silver light where you reside.
No distance spans the vast and bounding sea,
That could our steadfast, woven souls divide.

So let us brave the ache of being apart,
For soon the dawn shall break upon our plight.
And I shall press you to my beating heart,
To banish all the shadows of the night.

In the realm of love, distance is but a physical circumstance, not a spiritual barrier. This piece reflects the Victorian belief that true affection transcends geography, turning the pain of waiting into a testament of fidelity.
